Waxing Your Car For The Summer

When the weather starts to warm up, and the temperatures rise, car owners are going to enjoy a relaxing drive on an energizing, sunny day. The summer months are the best time for holidays and road trips to allow family and friends to come together. Along with all the travel comes the possibility of wear and tear to your car and its exterior. Many of us enjoy the look of a good coat of wax during the summer months to help bring the paint of our car to a sparkling shine when sunlight is shining on it. But, there are a few things to remember in regards to washing and waxing your car during the summer season.

Wash Your Car First

In the summer months, it is likely that you will observe one car enthusiast or another person who is washing and waxing their vehicle on their driveway. But, it is important to consider certain things prior to washing or polishing your car during the summer months of high temperatures. Waxing and washing in high temperatures could result in water spots because the sun's rays dry the vehicle before you have an opportunity to dry it with your hands. These spots will be noticeable on your vehicle, which will be covered through the use of wax, ruining the appearance of your car.

When washing your car (before applying the wax), ensure that you're not in the sun, particularly during hot days. It is possible to wash your vehicle in the evening when the sun begins to set. The temperature will begin to cool somewhat, and you'll not have to be worried about drying the water before you get a chance to dry it. Even if you've got an extensive shady tree adjacent to your driveway, it is possible to clean and polish your car at any time you want, so you keep your car kept away from direct sunshine.

Make sure to dry your car completely before applying any type of wax. Wipe your car using an incredibly soft towel so that you can get the water away quickly prior to the sun's creation of water spots. This will make certain that your car's finish appears stunning after sealing your vehicle with wax. There's nothing more frustrating than having to go through all the work of waxing your vehicle, only to be able to seal blotchy or dirty spots.

The Waxing Process

Similar to washing, you should wax your vehicle in a shaded or covered space and not in direct sunlight where the wax may "bake" on the car's surface and may not give you the best outcomes. Once you've figured out when to clean and prepare your car, let's talk an explanation of the process.

When you wax your car, it is recommended to apply wax to an area and then return to that area after the wax has dried and then take it off. Even if you're familiar with the procedure, we recommend that you read the directions for any product that you use on your car paint.

Consider a sequence of thought when you wax and complete the process in steps. Begin by applying wax to one area of your vehicle. Then, proceed to the next section until you work your journey around the vehicle. When you're done, you can return to the beginning section, which should have been able to dry and be ready to buff.
